IMPORTANCE OF BULK SMS TO CHURCHES
I’ll like to explain what bulk SMS is all about before listing out its importance to schools.
What is Bulk Sms:
Bulk SMS simply means an act of Sending messages to large Audience at once with a customised sender ID and at cheaper rates.
It has been analysed that:
• Number of Mobile phones sold every day can not be compared with numbers of Toothbrushes sold.
• 95% of all messages sent through Bulk SMS are being opened before four (4) minutes of receiving it.
Bulk SMS is the Most Cost effective means of advertisement, if the cost of advertisement used on (any of this means of advertisement) Radio, TV, Newspapers, billboards and other means of advertisement is Used on Bulk SMS, it’ll produce massive results.
Bulk SMS has a vital role to play in our Churches today.
• EVANGELISM: one of the primary duties of every believe is to win Souls to God, and Evangelism is one of the surest means of winning Souls, during Evangelism/Outreach we share tracks to people (some of which has a space for they to fill their name, phone numbers and prayer request), one of the ways of reaching out to these people is through sending Bulk SMS to them re-inviting them to our programs and keeping them updated about our services, but you don’t have to bore them with lots of SMS all the time.
• NEWCOMERS: Newcomers are like new born babies in the house of God (though not all) and should kept in touch with, by sending the SMS and calling them at times to no now they’re doing.
• NEW CONVERTS: all new converts are new born babies in the house of God, who easily backslide and go back to the word. All new born babies in the family do not start walking the day they were born, they need a lot of care from the family members before they’ll learn to Sit, Crawl, walk and finally learn to Run. The same is applied to new converts.
In as much as, new born babies needs Breastmilk from their mother, so do your new new converts need care, love and word of God from You.
I remembered, when I gave my life to Christ back then in 2011 I backslide and in 2012 January I gave my life again to Christ and backslide again due to nobody was there to encourage me, not even a call or SMS from the Church, then I stopped going to Church before I think all this whole thing is not going to work for me. By November 2012, I was given a track and was asked to fill a form at the bottom of that track, which includes my NAME, PHONE NUMBER and PRAYER REQUEST, before the date of that program was reminded twice through SMS and they also call me from time to time to now how I’m doing, I felt they care and love me. To the glory of God I haven’t backslide since then and never will I. The power of Bulk SMS kept me till now.
• WEEKLY ACTIVITIES: Bulk SMS is a good tool used in reminding workers and Church members about weekly activities, mostly the new converts and new members, since they’re not used to this weekly activities, you have to constantly remind them to attend.
• SUNDAY SERVICES: I could remember back then in 2012, I receive SMS every Saturday evening reminding me of Sunday services and its packages for me, I.e telling me what to expect on the Sunday service and these things intrigued me not to miss a service.
